  1. Hi all,

until recently i always thought that it was impossible for a SVCD (mpeg 2) to have 5.1 surround sound. HOWEVER, i was looking in the options of DVD2SVCD (i use CCE) and it allows you to change from Sterio etc to MPEG 5.1. is this worth doing? does it dramaticallys reduce the play time on the CD??

    thanks v much everyone

PS i hope this hasn't been mensioned b for, i tried a forum search but there was some problem with the server or something!

  3. cheers 4 the reply bj_m, but by "it rarely works in most players" do you mean that the sound (or even the entire movie) doesn't work, or that in most players it isn't 5.1, just comes out of all speakers normally???

also, does it take up a lot of extra space on the disc, or dramatically increase encoding time or n e thing???

    cheers m8!!!

yes it would take up extra space.
yes it would take longer to encode the audio (but not by much).
mpeg 5:1 audio - though a standard - doesnt work in most standalone players acording the reports here,
