  1. Hi, I am trying to backup Mission Impossible, NTSC, and the movie has two versions (aspect ratios) on the same disk. I've done dual aspect ratio movies before like Ice Age, but those movies have separate vob sets for each of the movies. Mission Impossible has the 4:3 version and the 16:9 version share some of the same vobs. Actually, there are 8 vobs for this movie and vobs 1-4 are the fullscreen version, and vobs 5-8 are the Widescreen version. The thing is that vob 5 starts off later then it should, and you are already 30 seconds or so into the movie if you start vob 5. There is no logo introduction. Vob 1 starts right at the beginning of the movie, with the logo introduction first, but it is the full screen version. I am trying to keep the widescreen version.

What I did was run vobs 5-8 through VOBRATOR and I saw that the widescreen version used cell Id 3 only. I figured I would just select what I want to keep, which was only the AC3 channel surround, as well as the English subtitles, and when I got my output, I realized something was probably wrong because it was only 3.56 GB's.

When I tried to play the vobs on the HD, the widescreen movie started perfectly with the logo introduction, etc, but there was no sound in ANY of the vobs. Basically, what I'm asking is what is the best way to get the widescreen version of this movie, or movies like it and keeping the sound along with it? Any help with this would be appreciated. I'm gonna experiment some more with this, but I appreciate any help I can get with this. Thanks

  2. update: I figured out a method which works perfectly for this type of structure. Got my 6 channel digital sound, as well as only the 16:9 version of the movie.
