anyone have a compaq with a 104 in it?

Can you ugrade the firmware past the 1.30 thats available on the pioneer website? I am anxious to burn ritek at 2X with 1.31.

i have a compaq presario desktop and I use a pioner dvr-104. I applied the latest firmware to my burner. Using record now max, it still can't burn at 2x and i use princo.

my buddy bought the 105 version and he still can't copy at 4x either.
he'll need 4x media which he does nto have but says he has never been able to go past 1x.

I tried using the third party and regular A04 firmware updates, but am getting an error messege saying the kernels don't match. Is there away around updating this drive with other firmware? Does this have anything to do with the incompatabilty with superdrives in regular PC's? If so has anyone gotten around that?
