This usually happens when the title it is trying to encode does not contain the whole movie, or the disk is dirty.

Play the dvd title in vlc...is it the whole movie? FF thru...does vlc for some reason gag or choke?

Computers are a *whole lot less* tolerant of imperfections on the dvd (as i'm finding out trying to convert DVDs that my kids have "played with" heheh)

That is correct. PAL mode is for PAL equipment. Depending on your player and TV you might be able to get it to work.

If your dvd player can do progressive output and your tv will accept it, this usually works.

Won't work for analog i/o tho'

Just made my first svcd with 1.5 and the audio and video are out of sync in the middle of the movie, but appear to be insync in the beginning and end? Not sure what the problem is? Anyone know what might be causing this? I have done different movies with 1.2 and audio and video were insync?

wonderboys. (I am currently trying it as an vcd)

Also can messing with VBR make the final vcd, svcd quality better or only less quality? And what does it mean to leave it off?
    thanks
