I wanted to use this program Froty-Two to do some work on a DVD I've made, but upon startup, it tells me to install the BSD Subsystem from the OS X install disc. But it's not an option. Isn't it supposed to already be installed?

Is Forty-Two not compatible with Leopard yet?

I wouldn't bother with Forty-two. Instead, use D-Vision3. It is far less buggy, gives you more control over the transcoding process, has a collection of useful utilities, and costs the same (zero).

If you do a google search on the web for d-vision 3, you get many hits for possible download sites. Here's a link to the author's own site (he has several other nifty apps):

Have fun with D-vision. It's a remarkably well-written app. The GUI in particular is friendly, but full-featured.

Good luck; post back and let us know how you make out!

yes, been at work all day and noticed the link with the word AFTER I came back to this thread this morning. At that particular point I did feel like quite a bonehead.
