  1. Hi,

Its hard to describe, but here goes:

What i am trying to do is make my own 'maker' animated logo which is going to be played at the beginning of my movies. I know what to do once i have made it, what i want to find out is:

How do i go about making animated logos - do i need some sort of 3d modelling program like 3Dmax? A good example of what its near to creating is the 21st Century Fox type animated logos.

Anyone with any ideas, it would be great!

    thanks

  2. Actually i did the same thing, I used Flash with Swift3D to do a nice 3D logo. I was a pain to output the flash file to video, but when i did i came up nice, i have to test it when i burn my project, cause the when converted to MPEG2 it looks pixalated on my computer screen, might look different on TV, so well see. How that helps a bit.

  3. depends on how complicated and nice you want it to look.

to do real 3d animation, you'll need 3dmax or maya or the like, they
also aren't very easy to use.

I did mine using POV-Ray (a freeware raytracing program). It, too, has a rather significant learning curve, but it can be quite powerful once you learn how to exploit its capabilities.

There are all kinds of ways to do what you want to do, though -- you could even go so far as to do hand-drawn animation on paper or cels and then scan each one individually, if you're feeling particularly masochistic.

No matter what you do, though, you'll need a way to assemble all of the individual frames into an MPEG if the graphics/animation program of your choice doesn't already have an export-to-video-file function. ULead Media Studio Pro's 'Image Sequence" functions are good for this. (If you just want to create some rotating/zooming text, MSP has a companion Titleing module which will work for that purpose.)

  5. Hi,

    Thanks for the replies!

Has anyone got any examples of some maker animations that they made? downloadable or screenies would be great!

    Thanks

I use Ulead Cool3d to create an animation. Export to Avi then encode to mpeg2.

We all use the same method, just different tools to get there.

  7. Some samples are at the address in my signature along with pictures you can use in any video editor to make your own (the new WinXP Movie Maker 2 is good for this - just export to DV AVI then encode with TMPGenc).
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'
