I have just finished a 24 hr encoding marathon of 352x 240 mpeg-1 in Tmpgenc. I used the 2-pass VBR method and aside from being a bit too large it works great. Now in order to squeeze it onto a CD (its VHS source after all) i want to edit it but every time I do the sound disappears?? I have tried M2-edit, Tmpgenc, mpeg2vcr and all do the same thing--edit the movie, drop the sound.

Anyone have any luck and can pass on how to edit a 2-pass Mpeg-1 VBR file? oh ya--I DO NOT want to reencode this thing unless I have no choice!

    Thx

I guess as a follow up question--is anyone out there editing their 2-pass VBR Mpeg-1 movies? If so what programs are you using. If not--why am I the only one doing this

Unless I am putting a whole video on one disc, I use the source range settings in Tmpgenc to define the portion of the source file used. As well, I use the batch encode method which allows multiple encodes in sequence. In other words, I have no need to edit my Mpegs. Depending on your source file, there are other editors (such as Vdub for AVI's) which might help.

Thanks for the input but Vdub is out of the question--since I might just as well edit the original and then re-encode for the same amount of time (if there is a VCD god then he/she/it won't make me do that)

I just want to cut 5 minutes off the end of the file and preserve the sound and video quality.
