  1. I capture from vhs video. I'm using a MSI Geforce ti4200 and the video in, not svhs in. I've installed the detonator 41.09 and the WDM drivers 1.08, I had to switch to the WDM1.08 because of Macrovision Problems... huge white stripe..

I tried capturing with vdub, avi_i_o and virtualVCR. Vdub and avi-io always cut of a few lines at the bottom of the screen. So in the captured file I'm missing this part and that's unacceptable. There's no change if I use other formats.

I heard that you can't use WDM drivers in vitualdub and so I switched to virtualVCR. VirtualVCR gave me a really fine picture capturing at 720*576 to DivX 2500Kb/s but the Audio/Video isn't in sync! There aren't many options to configure, so I checked the box "resample Audio/video dynamically".. but this didn't fix the prob.
I'm missing an option "adjust video to audio clock every 500ms".. or something like that in virtualVCR.

    PLZ help!! THX

  2. Hi,

I am having the same problem with a MSI GeForce4 Ti4200-VTS8X card. I am capturing with the PAL system from an analog camera. connected to the Video IN.

I have not yet managed to overcome the problem. I am using Pinnacle Studio 8.3 and VirtualDub 1.4.13 (FYI it can capture using WDM drivers).

Did you manage to overcome the problem using the virtualVCR? How did you manage that?

I am using MSI 41.07 drivers and Nvidia WDM 1.22 Capture drivers. (I also tried Nvidia 41.09 and WDM 1.18 with no success )

If you can find a solution plz let me know (the same applies to me)

I don't think Vdub can cap in WDM. It can *sometimes* cap using the VFW for WDM wrapper. I said sometimes because it's never worked on my system. The VdubMod can open Mpegs now but I can't seem to get it to open up in TMPGEnc without a crash, so I've had to discard it as well. Too bad as Vdub has the best filters available when capping from VHS tapes...

  4. You are right about Vdub (sometimes I made it capture using VFW).

However, do you have a hint about the capturing problem?

  5. For me Virtual VCR works fine now.
The problem was the high resolution. Now I'm capturing at 352x288 PAL and no more sync probs..

  6. I glad that you made it work.

However, my problem is not what capture software to use, but a hardware/driver problem. Whatever, software I use (VirtualVCR, Pinnacle Studio 8.3 etc.), the bottom lines of the captured frames are crambled.

I have nt found a solution yet.

  7. hi richta, those white bars that u mentioned, what are they. how to get rid of them ?

u mentioned switching to older wdm1.08, did that solve the problem and did that cause any performance degradation ?

    i use geforce 3 latest detonator and wdm1.19. i am currently capturing at 760x480@29fps & 6500kbps.

i get the white bars only when i am recording something from VCR, and especially when there are noise bars during playback.

    bye.
