  1. Anybody try Princo's 2X media I heard some bad things about Princo's but maybe the 2X media are better, anybody try them I heard on another web site that they do burn at 2X with the 105 and only cost $1.05 per disc.

Im looking into different media because Ritek's GO3's(only burn at 1X) and thier raising their prices while everybody else is lowering.

  2. If you look at the media reviews to the left people say they are ok. I've been using the 'true 2x media' (which are from TDK) from http://www.allmediaoutlet.com w/ my A05.

I burn everything at 2x (w/ DVD Decypter) and have had NO problems.

  7. Mysterio1 - I don't know if they are real TKDs are not, that's what DVD Decrypter tells me there are. If you've got a url with ways to double check/confirm (look, color, placement of series numbers, etc) I'll double check and post the info.

At any rate they do in fact work so...

  8. What really matters is if they work and dont self destruct after a few months or years. Their is a program NERO DVD SPEED that will tell you what brand the DVD's are.

Accesscard18 or whoever: I checked out the site in that link and it seems they have some pretty good deals--although one lame question whats the difference (in relation to the media) between a disk that is meant for general purpose and one that is meant for authoring? Is this a quality issue or an apples and oranges type of affair--sorry if I have offended any one with my newbie DVD questions

  10. The disc that Verjita recommended does work at 2x with the Pioneer A05 and my previous burner, the Sony 500a. However, I am sad to report that they are not true TDKs. It is true that dvd decryptor will say that it is TDK, though. I will show you what I mean below.

    DVD Decryptor:

True TDKs (The ones I bought from CompUSA in jewel cases)
    Pre-recorded Information:
    Manufacturer ID: MCC 00RG200

Not True TDKs (The ones I bought from alloutmedia in a 50 pack)
    Pre-recorded Information:
    Manufacturer ID: TDKG02000000

As you can see the real ones don't say TDK on manufacturer ID at all, but rather the fake one does. I am not saying that those disc are bad, because I burned all 50 of them without fail and they work on all my dvd players. I am just saying that they are different from the real TDKs that you buy in jewel cases with their logos printed on their disc.

I also bought these 'true 2x' at allmediaoutlet.com and they worked great for me so far. Received my 25 pack yesterday and burnt 5 last night. All 5 were burnt at 2x and video playback on my Pioneer standalone player was great. 2 of those 5 actually used up the entire 4.3 GB filled to the disc edge and the edges playback fine.

I looked this morning and they are out of stock. Fairly good deal cosnidering they are 2x and burn at 2x on my A05. $30 for the 25 PK after tax and shipping. I hope they restock soon as I don't see my 25 pack holding up much longer, got so much to back up

  12. Are any of you who had success with these Princo 2X (also known as "True 2X") using firmware 1.21??
I would appreciate it if you could please post your experience:

I would like to order some more, but I just upgraded the firmware and haven't had a chance to burn enough to know how well they work with 1.21 (I only had two Princo 2X left after upgrading the firmware: one had problems with ONE DVD player; the other disc didn't. That isn't enough to be sure...)

    Thanks!
