Hi everyone. I've been working on converting the audio from 3 mp2 files into ac3 format.. I've been successful in ripping the audio to wavs with Virtualdub at 48000Hz - These mp2s will be eventually going on a DVD. For my wav to ac3 conversion, I tried both Besweet with the GUI, and Soft Encode, and both are giving me trouble:
-BESWEET-
I downloaded the prog and gui, put them both in the same directory and then followed the guide I got here https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/129419.php .. I followed everything exactly as written (I believe), but at the end of the guide where you click on "WAV To AC3" here's what happens: a little dos box pops up for a fraction of a second and disappears - with no chance of reading what it said.. That's it.. No ac3 file is created. If I click and keep the mouse pointer over the WAV to AC3 button, the program seems to stall.. the bottom reads "transcoding" but there's no progress or anything.. As soon as I move the mouse pointer off the button, it stops and has a message "time elapsed: x min" where x is how long I had my mouse pointer resting over the button!! I got the same results with every wav file I tried.. Very weird and I didn't notice any responses to the guide mentioning a similar problem.
-SOFT ENCODE-
So I got ahold of a copy of Soft Encode. My first attempt was using my biggest wav file (800+mb), which is the audio for a full length movie mp2.. Soft Encode accepted it, AND encoded it properly.. Woohoo!! Tried the resulting AC3 in PowerDVD and it's fine. So I moved on to the last two wavs.. One is a half an hour long (271mb) and one about 3 (32.6 mb) minutes.. Did everything the same in Soft Encode, and each file crashes the prog after about 30 seconds of encoding, with the following error: "Sftencdd.exe has encountered a problem.." The 3 mp2s I have were all created by capturing footage with an ATI AIW 7500.. All at the same settings. I've listened to the two remaining wav files that Soft Encode crashes on, and there are no glitches, they sound perfect.. They were ripped in Virtualdub, using the exact same manner as the full feature (successful) wav...
Hope someone can help out, as these files won't fit on a dvd unless I get Dolby going.. Please advise, and thanks in advance!!

Arrgh.. I just tried to do encode my 860 mb wav file in Soft Encode again, just to test it since it encoded properly the first time, and now it crashes Soft Encode too!! It worked the first time, and I haven't changed any settings.. What's going on here?
