  1. Hi guys,

I am new to dvd, vcd and svcd. I read about Sefy's tutorial and it works. I have a question though on aspect ratio. I am confuse as to what to use, either 4:6 or 16:9. For example, I have a dvd that I ripped and got information of it from DVD2AVI. It says 16:9 in aspect ratio and FILM in video type. It didn't mention any % beside the word FILM. Now, I am confuse because, I only have a standard TV. From all the docs that I've read, my tv is 4:3. Confusion starts when I use TMPGenc. I am trying to encode an SVCD or MPEG 2 file from the .d2v file which was generated by DVD2AVI. There is a pulldown menu in TMPGenc under Aspect Ratio which we can select and there are many. Which should I select, 16:9 which is the information I saw in DVD2AVI or should I choose 4:3 Display since my TV is standard even if the movie is 16:9?

    Please help.

  2. Basicly your options are simply and depend on what you want to do:
    1. If you want to keep the 16:9 appearance of your movie (Wide Screen) you
should set under Settings - Advanced: 16:9 Display / Full Screen (a. ratio 2)
and under the Settings - Video: 4:3 Display (or NTSC or PAL)

    2. If you want to create a Full Screen version from your Wide Screen movie,
then you must set both the source and the target to 4:3 Display.
