    Hello everybody

I want to make a VCD with some mpg video clips. Most of them are made by me so they are in the "right" format (VCD PAL since I am in Europe).

The rest are downloaded from the net so they are in varius formats.
For example some are NTSC 23fps, others 29fps and some are MPEG1 but with diferent bitrates (not 1150 kbit/s).

I can always re-encode them with tmpgenc but I would like to know if there is any other way to use them, without reducing even more the quality by re-encoding them.

  2. I use Nero 5.5... that burns everything on a vcd, MPEG 1 and MPEG 2 on a VCD...

I use nero 5.5 myshelf but if the mpgs are not in the right format it re-encodes them.

I am trying to avoid re-encoding if possible.

Use VCDEasy to author and create the VCD image. It will notify you of mpegs in inapropriate formats, but will (in contrast to Nero) obey your wishes.
Then use Nero to burn the image to CD. Now if this "mixed" CD will play or not, is quite a different matter, and dependent on your player and/or TV.

I don't realy think this will work

What I try to achieve is a compliant VCD but without losing to much quallity.

    a. I should convert the NTSC files to PAL and
    b. to convert the strange bitrate files to compliant.

I would like to find out if any of the above is possible without actually re-encoding.

    thanks for the help.

Well, as both a. and b. requires reencoding - No, it's not possible.

Well, I have to re-encode them then to standard PAL and get off with it.

    Thanks for the help.
