  1. Hello.

I have a problem currently. I have downloaded an MPG file. It is not a VCD compliant MPG.

I believe it is a CDi MPG. How do I convert it? I know I could simply turn off the VCD Compliance in Nero but the file exceeds 80 minutes, soI would like to be able to convert it so that I could split the file.

    Thanks in advance.

Try remuxing the mpeg as VCD (Non Standard) with MPEG Tools in TMPGEnc, and then author with VCDEasy.

How do I remux the VCD? I will have to download VCDEasy too.

    Thanks for the help.

    • Start TMPGEnc.
Select MPEG Tools under the file menu.
      Select the Simple Multiplex tab.
Select MPEG-1 Video CD (non-standard) as Type:
Select your original MPEG as both Video and Audio input.
Select destination file name for your output.
      Click on "Run"
Take a small cup of coffee.

Now you have an mpeg that ought to be possible to use as source material for a XVCD.
Depending on what your DVD/VCD player can play, you may end up with a XVCD that works for you. If not, then reencoding with TMPGEnc (or other encoder that can take an mpeg as input) to VCD compliance is the only path left.

  5. mats,

I finally got round to trying your method. Im afraid it didnt work. It stopped at around 12 minutes into the mpeg and gave some starnge error. I cant remember what the error was but I will post it later.

Thanks for the info so far, its much appreciated

Then there's probably a bad file. You could try some other app, capable of remuxing, like bbmpeg, even if that's not as "intuitive" as TMPGEnc...

Load it into TMPGEnc. Select the VCD template, then encode it.
    Hello.
