I have studied every giude on this site as well as Doom9, and I have yet to see any documentation on how/where/where MPEG2 or M2V files should be/are converted to VOB files for DVD creation. I have tried unsuccessfully to burn a movie to a DVD-R 3 times now using guides and every time I try to burn the thing VOB Instant CD/DVD re-encodes any type of file I submit (I assume to a VOB). And of course after it gets done with it it looks like crap. Can anyone give me some help on how I would make VOB leave this file alone when formatting it for a DVD-R? Or is there a way to convert M2V & AC3 files to a VOB yourself?

The process is called AUTHORING. There are many programs that will do this: IfoEdit, Ulead Movie Factory 2, Maestro etc. All of these will create .VOB files from .M2v, .MP2 or .AC3 (IfoEdit may not handle .AC3 only .MP2).

  3. Didn't you get some software with your DVD burner?
If not, you can try Uleads DVD Movie Factory or DVD Workshop for 30 days free. Go to www.ulead.com and download either demo version and follow the instructions.
    Good luck
