  1. I need to create a .TS (.TRP) file from a .VOB file (standard DVD). I've tried MPEGStreamClip and SUPER, but neither has been completely successful in creating a file that is totally compatible with my PVR (a SonicView receiver). The SonicView wants a .TS (.TRP) with the following specs:

    VIDEO : MPEG-2 544x480 4:3 29.96 15 Mbps, upper field first
    AUDIO : MP2 stereo, 48 kHZ, 160 lbps

Anyone know a tool that will do this?? Any other advice??

The index files that go along with the .TRP will be created by the SV STB if the correct .TS format file is "fed" to it.

    Thanks

    Boo

P.S. I'm a real noob at this, so if I've asked a dumb question, please forgive me.

  2. Maybe try TsMuxeR? It will accept .vob as input.

You may have to "fix" your MPEG2 specs and convert audio to mp2 by re-encoding both before making the .ts, since 544x480 is non-standard.

  3. Thanks posion...... I made some tweaks in SUPER and have got it working pretty well, even though my resolution still doesn't match (I used 640x480 which is closest to the 544x480)

Only problem I still have (at this time, at least) is when I join the output files (the original DVD has several .VOBs of course) from SUPER using TSSplitter.

There is a glitch on *some* joined files, but not all. Interesting, no??

If you can find a copy and your DVD does not have some of the newer copy protections that it doesn't understand, DVD Decrypter can rip in IFO mode to a single large VOB. Just tell it in the config option not to split VOBs. Then you just have one large VOB to convert to TS. Commercial products such as DVD FabHD Decrypter may also be able to rip to one large VOB, but they aren't free.

  5. Hey thanks Jman.... I'd forgotten about DVDDecryptor. I'll try it right now.
