  1. Hi I have a movie that I have to transcode with a bitrate of 4300 in tmpgenc so the movie will fit in a dvd....but when I burn this and watch it ..it is jittery ...or there is a slight jerkiness on the movie ...is there any setting that I have to do in tmpgenc to rectify the problem or that is the quality of the picture because the original file is bigger than 4.6 gig.. This only happens on playback on stand alone player in my computer it plays fine

any help on this is appreciated.

    thanks

btw..Iam only transcoding the video only from a d2v that was created from dvd2avi..creating a m2v file that iam usind in spruceup

  2. Has your DVD-R media been used to successfully playback any other movies in your stand-alone? Always suspect the media first, especially if it is cheap, generic DVD-R.

If that isn't the problem, then it might be caused by incorrect field ordering. Under MPEG Settings...Advanced, change the value of the field order (either Top field first or Bottom field first).

You can use the program Bitrate Viewer to determine various settings of the mpeg2 stream. I usually open up the 2nd vob file to start in the middle of the movie. Then look for the Top field first (yes or no) setting.

  4. Enemtwithin, that works great...I use the bitrate viewer and I saw that the top field yes... went back to tmpgenc and it works no more jitters..now I know to check that out first before transcoding...

    thanks

Here's the probable answer. The "Field order" parameter right (A vs B) in TMPGEnc settings. The default DVD template may not be right.

You can use TMPGEnc to check out your source. Here are instructions:
