Just a question , why does my dvd-rom rip the info so slow ? its a 16x but I only get 1.3x in Dvd-Decrypter & Smartripper even my Dvd-Writer doesn't rip any faster.. Is there anyway that I can speed things up cos 1hour to rip a disc is getiing very tiresome.

Go to www.adaptec.com
and look for Aspi 4.71.2 for Windows XP, if your OS is XP

Maybe help...
before my Artec DVD 16x, don't do more than 2.0x, and after reach more than 6,5x
sorry my english -
I have W2K and have the same problem, only 2x ripping. I got one of the IOMagic/DigitalMedia/Cendyne 16x units. It's the ASPI driver, and Adaptec drivers don't help. Let me know if you get it working ( it rips at 8x in 98SE, so it's not the drive)

Adaptec drivers didn't help ( I'm in win2k aswell ) but thanks for the suggestion.
Any more suggestions -
You should check if DMA is enabled on the drive, this will definately increase the speed. Go to device manager then IDE controllers to check and enable...

1) Make sure that DMA is enabled
2) Make sure that the correct ASPI drivers are installed
3) Many DVD-ROM drives are 'locked' not to read above 2x on CSS encoded movies, so 2x might be the best you can get. -
Every movie I've ever ripped (over 100 on this drive) have been at 2x. And yes, DMA is enabled. My CDRW on the same cable writes just fine at 52x. This is a W2K thing I think. Tech support said "hey, it plays DVD's". I wonder if it's from the default installation that does IRQ sharing?
