  1. Ok i've had this same problem with Enemy of the State and Terminator 2 now. The way I work is i rip with dvd decrypter, then use dvd2svcd to get the .m2v and .ac3 files, then normally author with ifoedit, done 60 dvds this way, the above 2 just don't work. Here is the error i get when importing the .ac3

Cannot locate a frame SYNC word at an expected byte offset.

I have tried using ac3fix and that does not solve the problem .. any ideas ?

  2. What you need to do is rip the AC3 file directly off the DVD with Decrypter or smartripper. In other words "demux to extra file"

  4. If you know how to use smartripper use that. CLick on stream processing tab. Highlight file and select demux to extra file.

  5. Ok .. Smartripper seems to be having some kind of difficulty .. i set it up to strip just the AC3 6chan stream like you said .. set the destination, clicked start ..

The drive is running but there is no progress in the rip=-process screen .. the "broken blocks" is solid red ..

  6. U can do it with dvd decrypter. You have to get to stream processing mode and demux to extra file.

  7. Open with dvd decrypter.

Files shopuld be auto highlighted. Right click on files and select stream processing.

Highlight 0x80. (THis should be first audio file)

At bottom check demux to extra file. You should end up with an extra AC3 file

  8. Mike,

    Great this worked !!

Now a followup question .. is there anyway to do this with already ripped .vob's ? I.e. i have a directory on my computer c:\enemy with all of the vobs from the enemy of the state dvd but not the actual dvd anymore. dvd decrypter only seems to read directly from a dvd so is there a way to do this with vobs pre-ripped ?

  9. I use DVD2AVI to extract the ac3 file from VOB's ripped by Decrypter. Under the Audio drop-down menu, you can select demux 'all audio tracks' or just the ac3 (Dolby Digital). Here's a tutorial:

riekl, I use Smartripper for this. DVD Decrypter won't do anything but a DVD drive (to my knowledge). After loading Smartripper select the folder icon in the very top right and select the directory. Then got to stream processing and demux each file as did with decrypter.
