I have the pioneer 104 burner, and have used Maxell dvd-rs exclusively, with excellent results. However, at around $4 a piece, they just aren't practical.
It seems to me that 4x media would have to be higher quality than most 2x, to be able to handle the faster write speeds. Is this true? And would I be better off spending around $1 per disc on ritek 4x media as opposed to 2x media for around the same price?

yes, 4x discs are better quality; they use better dyes for these discs. Stay with Ritek G04's, they're great. I love them and use them whenever I can afford to buy a 50 spindle of them

How good are they as far as comatibilty on set tops? I have had very good luck w/ Maxell, and will continue to use them for my most important projects (I do a lot of VHS -> DVD for family and friends... and friends of friends
But it would really be great if these ritek 4x discs were as compatible.
