  1. What program do you use to edit your raw AVI files with...

    Premiere?
    Vegas Video?
    Pinnacle?
    VirtualDub?

What I'd like to do is to be able to edit the video files with the basic functionality that VDub has, but also be able to add transitions and text to the video as well. The program also needs to be able to frameserve out to TMPGEnc since that is what I use to encode with.

Pros and cons of any program you have used would be appreciated. If I'm going to spend money on a program, I'd like to know what's the strong and weak points are first!

On a related note, what program do you use to author your DVDs with? I currently have MyDVD (which came with my Pioneer drive). It works well to make a quickie DVD, but for menus or anything else it is useless. I'm heard of SpruceUP, Maestro, Scenarist, etc. What one do you prefer?

    TIA again.....

  2. I have tried:

    Sonic MyDVD
    MS Movie Maker
    Ulead Video Studio
    Roxio VideoWave
    Adobe Premiere

I did not get too far with Premiere. Too complicated!
MS Movie Maker is too limited
Ulead Video Studio does not capture too well (analog)
I like Roxio VideoWave, but the results were crappy audio and video (on the DVD).
So far, Sonic MyDVD seems to produce the best results (in the final DVD), but does not have as many features as Video Studio or VideoWave. I have just ordered Pinnacle Video 8. I will give it a try when it arrives.

Sonic MyDVD was preinstalled on my Dell (which came with the DVD burner). I am wondering if it was optimized somehow by Dell to capture and burn better than the other packages???
