we are almost done with this.

its not *perfect* but is pretty good.

now...the bad news

it *may* be ready this weekend...it really depends on if it can kill 1 or two little bugs that will drive people nuts.

if that is the case, it will be available for download intially only using Bittorrent http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/, because quite frankly, I'd like to keep my .mac account up and running

No...don't want any mirrors, thanks

A vast majority of the usablity issues have been solved, installation is a breeze for those who read the manual.

I want to touch on the above point. forty-two absolutely, positively will not fuction untill you *READ* the docs and *FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS*, by design.

Why is this? We are just 3 guys, and in all honesty, it is *extremely* frustrating answering questions we *know* are answered in the docs and faq.

Ask any "small" developer and they'll tell you; their biggest "cost" is support for those who ask questions that are in the documentation. It burns hours and hours in a day. Don't get me wrong...I like helping people. Email, chat, *remote logins*...its insane. But you gotta help us help you

To that end, Bile and I developed what we call "Bookmobile" code for forty-two, sorta as our 'gift' to other small devs that may suffer this frustration, and will be more than happy to share this methodology with other devs.

If you do not read the docs, and follow specific directions therein (made super easy in several test revisions...we want to be fair) when you lauch the app, all the controls will be disabled. You will only be able to click a "Read Me..." button, which will open the forty-two manual for you.

We don't ask anyone to pay for forty-two. All we ask is that you read the manual. Chris worked on it to help you, and to help us help you better.

Of course we are very, very thankful for the donations we have received. Without them, forty-two wouldn't be nearly as good as we think it is, and we encourage *everyone* to support the developers of these tools like forty-two, MMT and ffmpegX.

Just drop a line and ask, whatever. It takes a lot of time, as well as a certain amount of crazy, and love, to do this stuff you know

So...

Give us a tad bit more time. I don't wanna give up on these damn bugs, but that may happen too.

That's what revision numbers are for, after all. Grab Bittorrent and hang tight.
