  1. I use nero and i have a 85min mpeg file and it has been edited as much as it can be!

How can i get this 85 min file onto my 80min cd? is there a way to fool nero into thinking its only an 80 min mpeg?

85minutes of VCD means roughly 850mb's, so you can not fit it into regular 80min CDR, sorry. You could overburn, if your burner does support it, around 83minutes, but not to 85min. If you're using burner that supports 90-99min CDR's, get yourself pack of those and there you are.

If you need to fit that mpg on one CD by all means, you have to reencode to XVCD with a lower bitrate.

  4. How can 80 min of video take up 800 megs of space when 80min cds only hold 700 megs?

And lets say i can get my 85min video to 650 meg what program do i need to burn it with because nero only lets u have 80 min max!

  5. As vd's are burnt in mode 2 the size of the mpeg determines how long the movie goes for (this is how you 'fool' nero) u can get a 92 minute movie down to 790 meg (and nero will think it is a 79 minute movie) If u re-encoded it down to 650 meg, it will report it as a 65 minute movie. And you just use nero to burn like normal, however, because u have to re-encoded to another format, when u burn you will have to make sure you DO NOT burn as a vcd compliant disc.

Audio-CD, Video-cd and SVCD are burnt in MODE2, so you can fit about 800MB on a 80min CD.
If you create a standard VCD (MPEG-1 video 1150+224 kbps) you can fit about 80min of video on a 80min CD.
You can decrease the bitrate to 870+224 to fit about 100min on a 80min CD.
You can increase the bitrate to 2500+224 to fit about 40min on a 80min CD.
But everything else than 1150+224 is XVCD, you may have problems to play it on some dvd players.
Higher bitrate will give you a better quality in most cases.
To do this you need more than just Nero i.e. a MPEG encoder.
So far the very basic information. Please continue with reading the guides.
