  1. Every time I try to convernt in TMPGEnc, I get the error can not open whatever.wmv or the file is unsupported also tried stoikvideo converter and said can not open input file?

    this plays fine on my computer though? how do I convert this to an avi?

    Rename the file to .asf and try again.

    In TMPGenc make sure that in the 'Option' -> 'Environmental Settings' -> "VFAPI Plugins', 'DirectShow Multimedia File Reader' is selected and has a priority of at least '1'.

  4. neither worked...? the file plays perfectly on the computer.

    renamed it in the command prompt tried to open it nothing, increased that value to 1 and 2, nothing.

    you can try Graphedit (check the tools section, and there's a tutorial somewhere in the "convert" tutorials)

    however, I have tried it and got absolutely nothing out of it, and even some of the tutorials predict that it doesn't always work out.

    had much better luck with the Stoik convertor, but it's not working for you, maybe Graphedit will work better for you then me.
