  1. Anybody managed to get a GeForce2 MX card worked together with a Hauppauge WinTV GO FM? I'm getting this irritating system hang whenever I attempt to open TV2000 in OVERLAY/PRIMARY mode. Sigh...

    I'm using Iwill KD266 m/b, Duron 750@750.

    My solution?

    Give up! <g>

I have a WinYV-Go and an A7A266 1.4 GHz Athlon. Also a Gainward GeForce2 card. I finally gave up on the poor picture the WinTV-Go was giving me and re-installed an old STB TV card.

The WinTV software seems pretty lame. For watching TV try Dscaler. Great picture! For capturing try AVI-IO (or VirtualDub if you can get it to capture with your setup).

Do you have the Geforce2 and the TVcard on the same irq? You DO NOT want to have them on the same IRQ. My old STB TVPCI card does not work if it is sharing an IRQ with my Geforce2 MX but it works great if they are on different IRQ's.

  4. I tried having them on separate IRQs but the system still give me hang. I really find it strange that this WinTV card is able to work in my Asus P5A-B m/b (ALI chipset), but now not able to work on the latest ALI M1647 chipset. I'm probably going to give it a one last try, using a PCI VGA card and see if it still give me hang.

  5. I've got an AMD Tbird 1ghz/266 with an EPoX 8KTA3 board, and a GeForce2 MX400 and a Hauppauge WinTV-Theater, and i'm having the time of my life using both of them without a single problem.

    1) Check and see if you got BIOS update for your boards
    2) Make SURE the cards are NOT using the same IRQ!!!!!
    3) Get LATEST drivers for your IDE, nVidia and WinTV card

NOTE: Hauppauge released new VFW and WDM drivers and also new WinTV suite, I haven't seen any diffrence myself, but you might want to check it out.

  6. Hi,

One of my machines (AMD Duron 700 + FIC AZ11) uses that combination. The only items to be concerned over is to shut off ACPI, use the VFW drivers (WDMs performed inconsistent), and make sure everything is on its own IRQ. That's all I had to do. It works great.

  7. Like AndrewDV, said, use VFW instead of WDM, it's much more compatible with older and newer applications, and will cause less trouble, I didn't have to turn off ACPI myself, but remember if you had it one way and you turned it the other way, Windows will start redetecting every piece of hardware in your system!

  8. Guys, thanks for the response. I just did an experiment using an old ATI Rage II+ PCI card and guess what? It WORKS!!! This is strange... so now it boils down to the AGP slot has some incompatibility problems or perhaps and more likely the Abit Siluro GF2 MX card is at fault. Hmm... guess I need a non-GF2 AGP card to verify this...

  9. Or try a diffrent GF2 card from another manufacturer which may work better.

  10. No use, even my voodoo3 card gives system hang. I don't think it's the GF2 card now, most likely it's the chipset problem.

Hang in there kuanlian I belive it WinTV2000 or it could be the Driver it self some people are getting this and other don't.
At first I was for sure it was ACPI problem but it turn out it not a ACPI problem.
I had a lot WinTV-PVR user are runing in to this as well.
What ever "fix" they had before was removed in the current ver they put it back in.

  14. I would suggest you check all the following, and all those who are also having problems should include a details review of their entire hardware components so we can compare and try to fix it for everyone. My hardware consists of the following:

    EPoX 8KTA3 Mainboard (KT133A)
    GeForce2 MX 400 with TV Out (RCA/SVHS)
    WinTV-Theater (PAL Tuner version)
    Sound Blaster Live! 5.1
    Conexant 56k v.92 PCI Modem
    RealMagic Hollywood Plus DVD Decoder

I'm using all latest drivers and BIOS for my system, in the GeForce2 i'm using Beta Drivers v12.90 as i've had LOADS of problems with the official 12.41 from nVidia, including playback problems using PowerDVD.

  17. SHS, I know how to do pure hardware report, but i'm not going to be asking everyone to do it, and some won't do it, so i'm asking for the minimum, as i've got a very good troubleshooting knowledge.

I have the Epox 8KTA3+ and a WinTV Primio. If you want to do a bios update you should save the old one! If I use the current bios and capture in 768x576 I'll get green lines in the frames. I told Epox from this problem and that the older bios works fine. So they said that thy have speeded up the PCI-Bus which will cause problems with old or low-cost cards. I have flashed the old bios again and everything works fine.
Only as information if you'll get problems!
