  1. OK first up which subtitle track should I keep for the elvish (?) subs that I understand are in the film ( there are 4 subs all english).

Now comes the bit I'm hoping to do , after ripping both disc and keeping the Dts and Ac3 tracks (Only 1 player has dts decoder other is only ac3 so need both tracks) I end up with about 12gb so that says to me 3 dvd-r's , now for the real question how do I join the 2 discs together and then resplit them as 3 discs ??? I'm not completely new to ripping but I still have ALOT to learn so easy to follow instructions with big colorful pics would be nice

Also I'd like to say that I don't want to re-encode , I'm still young enough to beable to get up and change a disc over so the extra cost of another disc is fine ( just don't want to have to get up too often hence not splitting onto 4 discs LOL )
Any help or links to guides would be appriciated

    Thankz

I just backed up my NTSC copy of LOTR Extened Edition this weekend using DVD2DVD-R (along with CCE 2.5, BitRate Viewer, Chapter Xtractor and Maestro).

There are two PGC's. I used the first PGC and have ELF talk without doing anything with subtitles. I stripped out everything but the movie in English and 6 channel audio. I used the DEFAULT bitrate selection. Everything is PERFECT!!! 8)

I believe Disc 1 is 1:45 minutes and Disc 2 is 2:20 minutes.

If you have any questions on using these software programs, follow my links and you will find all the information.

  3. i second that. i did lotr, and got my m2v, ac3, multiplexed with chapter points. i didn't do anything with subs, and the elvish translation came up anyway. i guess it's specific to different movies whether it's needed or not, or rather whether the text is taken from subs or embedded in the film itself.
