    ok i have been trying to learn how to encode divx and avi to vcd or svcd. what i would like to know is what tutorial do you think is best. i have been trying them all but havent had much luck. seems when i get done with one that was 700 mbs big as a avi it comes out to be 1 gig each half after i split it and encode it to svcd. so what tutor is best to use. i have all the software to do this. if not i can get it. so what are your opinions

    There's no magic involved, besides the insight that the size of the AVI has nothing to do with the size of the mpegs. What counts is:
    • A) The length of the AVI
      B) The bitrate used when encoding the AVI to MPG
    After that, it's only a matter of taste (=what quality you want), what bitrate you use, as long as it's within the standard.
