Ive recently got a Pinnicle PCTV rave card. I am using it to capture some analogue footage from VHS and Hi8 tapes. When i go to change the capture resolution to anything above 352x288 the options are not availiable to me. (they are they - just i cant select them!)

When i read the small print of the acrobat help file it says on page 63 that not all versions of the card allow you to change the settings.... anyone know a way round this?

Ive got version 5.10 build 19, and my PC is 1.8ghz P4 running with XP

Ive tried Virtual Dub but when i try to inclreas the setings above 352x288 i get "error 418:unsupported video format"

  2. Those Pinnacle drivers have been nothing but trouble for me. I was having those exact same problems you described (amongst many others) when I first tried to use my card. Installing these drivers (http://btwincap.sourceforge.net), however, fixed everything for me.

  3. Digitoast is right. However, with original Pinnacle drivers you can capture with any vertical resolution if you go no further than 288 in horizontal. I use to capture analog Hi8, VHS and TV a resolution of 480x288, and my tests comparing with 480x576 did not show any increase in quality. If you go by this method there is no need to change drivers.
