Each time I re-encode with Rempeg2 I get an error message at 99% of the process. No need to say how frustrating that is!
I tried several other DVD's, but it always crashes at 99%.
    I have Rempeg2 1.5.2 and I'm running WinXP Pro.

Any ideas what can I do about it?? (besides installing Win2k)

  2. My REMPEG2 has the same problem, but it actually finishes. If you close the prog when it "freezes" on 99%, it will say operation complete. Check the outputted m2v file and see if it looks complete.

  3. I got this error last nite also, it's only the 2nd time i have had to use REMPEg but i left it over nite andthis morning it was just hanging on 99% with 1 frame to go , i looked at the file, but it said i couldn't open it in Spruce up or any other programs so i had to erase it, i am going to try TMPEnc tonight.
i for some reason had a problem with opening my AVS file or AVI file in CCE,It was saying my frame rate is not supported? if i look at both files , the AVS will say frame rate 20000/1000 is not supported, then if i try the AVI that DVD2AVi creates, it says -1052 x 56 is not a supported frame rate, it should be 23., 24, 25... etc...?
i don't know why this is? can anyone help me please?
am having thr worst luck in findiing a re encoder to work for me.

ReMPEG is finished encoding even though it hangs at 99%, just hit cancel ( I think it's cancel, I haven't used it in quite a while) and it will tell you you transcoding is finished. You can then use the m2v file after that. Try doing a search through the forums next time, because this question has been addressed many times before. Personally, I gave up on ReMPEG, even though I liked the convienence of it, the quality was just horrible. I've been using CCE, the quality is great, and it encodes MUCH faster. This web site and Doom9.org have guides on how to use CCE.

Mine also crashed at 99% but I just closed it (or killed it, I can't remember) and could access the file after that. I was doing Cast Away and it took about 4-5 hours at 55%. Unfortunatlety the quality was very bad, I had scenes freezing while the movie was still playing. After that I decided that it is not worth trying to re-encode, I just split to 2 DVDs if needed while maintaining all the quality and it's so much faster anyway.

Thanks for the replies. At least now I know I'm not the only one and that it's morelike rempeg2-related.

As for the quality, I don't see any difference with the original video.
But, I never did heavy encoding or movies with lots of action sequences.

@akis, maybe you run several passes to improve your encoding quality?
    Myes, it's time consuming
