As far as 2x media goes I've never had a problem with the 'true 2x media' from http://www.allmediaoutlet.com These are TKD discs and I burn at 2x w/ DVD Decypter.
So far no coasters and even for movies that burn to the edge of the disc (say 4.6gb) no blocks or random stops. -
dvd decryptor also writes disk.
mode/iso/read
then
mode/iso/write
that is the best way to copy dvd5's -
Actually I use DVD Decypter to burn all my DVDs. I author in DVD Maestro, then use IFOEdit or IMG Tools to generate an ISO image file, then burn the ISO file with DVD Decypter.
I do this instead of using Nero (which plans sucks) or RecordNow, because it's always worked for me and it's free -
V-Sama,
So the "True 2x" DVD-R discs (made by TDK) can hold actually hold ~4.6G of info?? Do you see this consistently? Any other 'quality' media that can do that?? Thanks.. -
I HAVE THE SAME BURNER AND THE MERITLINE 2X AND 4X WORK
GREAT. THE 1X IS THE CHEAPEST AND WORKS GREAT ALSO.

I have burned over 50 cheap Princo's from Allmediaoutlet.com Not one coaster! Of coarse that is at 1x though.

I've used Meritline 2x dvd-r and no coasters.
Also I burned alot of TDK 2x and Sony 2x dvd-r and dvd-rw and no coasters.
Also I didn't try to overburn to 4.6 as mentioned above.
Are you sure the burned dvd was 4.6 or was it an image 4.6
Cause images tend to be bigger then it's contents, and when you burn the dvd is actualy smaller.
I just want to make sure before I'll try it, cause I don't want to fukup my dvd writer and waste a dvdr=[ vinchi007 ]= -
Apple Branded disks are one of the cheaper brand name disks. Retgular price is $14.95 for 5 disks these burn at 1x and 2x with no problems. They have 4x disks at 5 for $22.95 but are hard to find.
Does everyone know the Cendyne DVR-105 equals Pioneer DVR AO5/105 equals Apple Superdisk!!! But the Cendyne is sold cheaper though with less software. -
Just got my 105 as well. While I'm waiting for some 4x Ritek at $2/ea mailorder, I went to Staples and picked up some Imation 1x DVDR, Maxell 1x DVDRW and TDK 2x DVDR. They all work and I have yet to make a coaster (this with Nero V55100).
I have noticed when burning movies to the edge while using both the Maxell and the TDK that I have gotten pixelation and stuttering at the very end on playback. Since I don't see this playing back directly off disk, it could be the media, the player or the burner.
