I've been trying for the last 2 days to burn a working DVD. I finally got one burned but for some reason the video is upside down. The audio and video are synced perfectly and in plays in both my Sony DRU-500A and Apex AD-1500 stand-alone. Any ideas to help me out? I have the Nimo pack installed and someone mentioned I should remove the Divx G400 codec but that doesn't sound right.
The video I'm testing is a music video in SVCD format. From what I could gather, Sonic MyDVD converts the video to the proper playable format and then burns the DVD. I noticed during the conversion, the Divx G400 logo appeared in the system tray. Then went away when the burn started. This is why the other person told me to uninstall it.
My hardware is a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 / P4 1.7 Ghz / 512mb / and Sony DRU-500A DVD+-RW. I can provide any other info needed.
My intent is to burn existing VCD/SVCDs to DVD format. Since most are in Divx format they require conversion. This is where I've had the biggest problem. I've tried TMPGEnc but keep doing something wrong which is why I switched to Sonic MyDVD.
Thanks for any help. I'll put together a HOWTO if I get this working. Oh and sorry for the big paragraph.

Kinda hard to have a VCD/SVCD in a Divx format. -
{ to the message board admins...sorry but the below paragraphs are necessary. my initial question went unanswered due to a dumbass. }
Uhh...what the hell are you talking about GandyMan?
How did we get from converting a VCD/SVCD to pirating software? I mentioned TMPGEnc which is freeware. Then I mentioned Sonic's MyDVD which came with the Sony DVD burner I bought. If you are referring to the music video as being "pirated software"...the video in question was ripped off my own PURCHASED Shania Twain DVD. The others are from the various others I have ripped...again off my own PURCHASED music video DVDs. When I first ripped them about a year ago...I did not own a DVD burner. So I converted them to Divx to put on CDRs in which I tested them in my Apex standalone player. Now that I own a DVD burner...I wanted to test converting the older rips back into a DVD compliant format so I can try them on my standalone player. Notice in my previous post I said "I'm testing...". And in my test...the video plays upside-down so obviously something went wrong in the conversion. That is why I posted my inquiry for someone to help.
Here's a thought...if you aren't gonna help and judge a post before you have the facts straight...why reply to this post? I'd love to see you pull some crap like this in the Army. You'd be pulled so fast into your Commander's office and given a lecture on intel gathering before making incorrect assumptions followed by unwarranted attacks. I'm shocked that being an soldier...you weren't already taught that or maybe you weren't paying attention during that part. And yes...I have a US Army background myself.
Now...is there someone else other than this loser who can answer the question?ZenTsang Out!!

Well HighSpeed, u said u have them on VCD/SVCD so how can they be in divx format. Read what u wrote and u will see why I put what I did. If you are converting vcd's that u own than they can not be in divx format and that is what I was saying. And if u have an Apex player that plays Divx let me know more because the 1500 does not play divx. As I said if u have the originals why worry about converting from divx to dvd, why not just copy the dvd. Seams to me like u do not have the dvd to copy or that is what u would have done by now. To go from dvd to divx to dvd and u have the DVD is stupid as Hell. As for the Army shit I guess my training must be better than yours dip shit because vcd,s are mpeg not divx so u could not have done what u said so go do your home work smart ass.

You know what? Apologies are in order. When I posted my previous response I was having a really bad day and may have mistaken your intentions. I also tend to take things personally and explode. Please accept my apologies Gandyman.
ok...to clear a couple things up...when I originally ripped my DVD's, I didn't know anything about VCD/SVCD. I didn't even have an APEX player then. So I converted them into Divx and burned them on CD-Rs. I was intrigued at learning the whole Divx thing so much that I wasted tons of printer ink on thick manuals on the topics of conversion, aspect ratios, etc.
Then I found out about the whole VCD/SVCD thing and how you could watch them on certain standalone DVD players. I did some research and found the Apex 1500 could play these so I bought one.
Now...I could have simply re-ripped my DVDs and burned to CD-Rs but again, another document I found on converting Divx to VCD/SVCD was again...intriguing and challenging. So...here I am. But in the conversion from Divx to VCD/SVCD, the video in some way has flipped upside-down. Thus my dilemma and inquiry to anyone on this forum with a helping hand in why the video flipped and how to correct the problem.
If you can help...thanks. If not...I'll just wait for someone else who might be able to help while I search for an answer elsewhere.
Again...my apologies. Sorry for the direct attack. And sorry for the attack on your profession...it wasn't very professional of me.ZenTsang Out!!
