  1. Hello,
It does not matter what the source of my Mpeg file is (direct caprure, DVD rip or what so ever) but the file itself looks great.
When I'm burning it with my memorex 32maxx1240AK the movie starts great but when the movie goes on the quality becomes worse and worse. At the end (often after about 30 min. already) I only see blocks en hear beeps until the movie is unregocnizable.
It's not the file which is the problem but the burning.
I tried all kinds of burning speed, with or without buffer underrun but it does not work well!
I'm using Nero burning ROM ver 5.9.****
I used to have the same problem with my Aopen burner in the past.
By the way: Other CDR's work fine (audio, data, image etc.)
    Who knows about this problem?
    Greetings, Jan Busser

    Some points to considder :
    * be sure you encoded the MPeG using compliant restrictions for either VCD or SVCD (all other types are not valid for standalong DVD-players - despite some may claim). TMPGenc is the easiest and the best, it also has templates which you can use, though use the template that suites best for the source of the avi (either NTSC or PAL, for -us- in W.-Europe it is PAL) and for the target of what you wanna to create (SVCD or VCD).
    * If it still goes wrong when burning using Nero, then try using VCDwizard. VCDwizard also can create Nero's NRG cd-images, which you then can burn using (any) Nero-version (version 5 and up).

If it still doesn't work, then be sure your dvd-player realy accepts CD-R/W, if it is not then there is your problem.
A burned S/VCD could also be tested at your computer, if you've installed a DVD-player (e.g. WinDVD, PowerDVD, etc.)

    Regards,

Some brands of DVD players don't like certain CD-R's. Have you tried using any other kind of CD-R besides Memorex? :P

  4. Problem solved (thanx to Betamax)
Thanks very much. The problem is indead Nero's way of burning VCD's.
Un betamax's advide, I created an image with VCDgear and than burned it with the same Nero, and guess what: Brillant! Even my high speed-quick erased-ReWritables show a perfect picture even when burned at the highest speed, I'm very greatfull.

This site should have a warning on every page: "Don't use Nero to author VCDs!"

And neither should one use it to create SVCD.

If one realy wants to use Nero to 'burn' the S/VCD, then use app's like VCDwizard which also are able to generate a Nero cd-image. Then use Nero to burn that image...
