I capture from analog video tapes with ULEAD VIDEO STUDIO directly to DVD format, parameters are 24 Bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps Field Order A (DVD-PAL), 4:3 Video data rate: Variable (Max. 6000 kbps) LPCM Audio, 48 KHz, Stereo, but 90m minutes film gives me about 5,5 GB DVD, which parameters I should change to get smaller file but minimal quality loss?...thanx...

  2. hi babazztt.
file size is a matter of bitrate. if you want smaller file size, you have to lower the bitrate (the max one or the average one), but doing so you'll lose quality.
try to play with bitrate until you find a good compromise.
some people talk about using a lower resolution (i.e. 352x576), so that if you use a lower bitrate you'll have less grainy images than using full pal.
I sugget you, if you have enough disk space, to capture uncompressed (or low compressed), then let a good encoder (like tmpgenc or cce) do the compression; with the same bitrate, you'll get really better quality than capturing directly in mpeg2.
I think here in this forum you'll find all the help you need.
    good luck, jeremy.

  3. What I like to do now is capture at 80000 CBR and get a 7gig file and get it on one DVD-R. It's really easy cap as high as you can then use use ulead to make the VOB files then use DVD2ONe to make it down to 4.3. I have test it and cap at 80000 then useing DVD2oNE is alot better then if I just cap at 5000 get a file around 4gig's. You can also use DVD2DVD-R but it can be buggy if your NTSC use 135 or ask some one for it. I use DVD2ONE very fast. I just did DUNE from SCIFI channel. I had files around 7gig's and just used ulead to make the vob's and DVD2ONE to bring it down to 4.3gig's only take's about another 10 minute's that's it
