  1. I've got some MPEG-2 files, taken from a ReplayTV 5040 PVR.
    According to MPEG Info X:

Mpeg 2 Program Stream File [Video/Audio]
    Muxrate: 1.67 Mbps
    Estimated Duration: 30:08.75s
    Aspect ratio 4/3 (TV)
    Interlaced, chroma format: 4:2:0
    Video Format: NTSC
    Display Size [360x480]
    Size [352x480] 29.97 fps 1.73 Mbps
    Audio: Mpeg 1 layer 2
    192 kbps 48000 Hz
    Stereo, No emphasis

However, I've been *unable* to convert this to a MPEG-1 file (which I
can then give to Toast to burn to VCD) without having audio/video
sync issues. I've tried the presets on ffmpegX 0.0.5 (and thank you,
Major, for such a great program/wrapper), but have yet to find a
combination of settings that will result in something that either
Quicktime 6.1 (with MPEG-2 plugin) or vlc will play back correctly.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Worst case, I just want to
change this from a MPEG-2 file into a MPEG-1 file, same resolution,
    no resizing, etc.

  2. Additional info: when I try to feed a file (that came directly off the ReplayTV) into VCDgearX, it spits this out:

Track # Video Size Frame Rate Video BitRate Pack Size
    1 352x480 NTSC 29.97 fps 1726000 kbits/sec invalid

ERROR: The MPEG file(s) will not be processed unless it has a pack size of
2324! Continuation will result in MPEG corruption. Remultiplex
the MPEG file using M1-Edit's Repacketize option, or demux and
remux the MPEG file manually with multiplexing software such as
    TMPEGEnc.

Any suggestions for what I can use to de-mux and then re-mux the file so that other software can handle it correctly? TMPEGEnc isnt available for the Mac, and ffmpegX's mux/demux under tools will demux but sit at 99.96% done. It generates m2v and mp2 files, but then when I try to use ffmpeg to re-mux them, it says they're not valid...

  3. Have you tried RNC's program that was made specifically for converting Replay TV files?
