  2. I wouldn't recommend CCE myself, use ifoedit/dvd decrypter which will do PAL movies. Are you sure you want to encode? Just use 2 DVDr's and keep the quality 100% in the process. Try my guides (url in the sig) if you want.

I would like to put the movie on 1 dvd .I aint worried about
the extras , just as long as i got the main movie.
I use ifoedit95 to strip most and put on 1 dvd.
Its the dvd9 that have about 6gig of movie that I have to encode them
but to find a good tutorial is hard to get hold of.
I have all the software and i can get more if need be.
I just need a good encoding tutorial.
Im going to your link now to have a nose around.
    Thanks for the reply.
Any more info i'll be much appreciated.

  4. create a d2v file in dvd2avi.exe. put this into vfapiconv-en.exe and run to create an avi file. open up with cce and change q factor to 40 min bitrate to 1500 max 9800 (if mpa audio) or 9000 (if ac3). change video encoding to one pass vbr. uncheck audio file. in video tab check dvd compliant and adjust aspect ratio. donit change quality settings. don't need anti noise filter is source is dvd.

a 2 hour movie will give a file size of about 2 gig.

preview m2v file afterwards without closing cce. if quality is good (it will be) and file size is acceptable your'e done. if file size too big then change video encoding to multipass (1 pass only) and click vbr button. top right hand corner click on q factor. change bias to 0 from 30. bottom left hand corner will show exact file size. now by adjusting the min and max bitrate you will alter file siize to what you want.

assuming no menu/extras wanted now put this m2v file (if ntsc need to run pulldown) and your ac3 file from dvd2avi into ifoedit- create dvd, and your'e away.

you will now have needed vobs and info files for burning.

if you want to create original dvd structure (menus and extras) the only difference is bulid your new main movie files in maestro/scenarist (inc subs if wanted and extra audio). change vts to what your original movie was for eg. orig vts 3_1,3_2.vob etc) new authored files will read vts 1_1,1_2.vob. rename these to 3_1,3_2. replace orig files with these new ones and run ifoupdate.exe to change the sectors and your done. you can now reencode all the extras as well if you want just make sure the PGC are the same (need scenarist for this )

i have done this to change dvd9 (over 8 gig) to one dvd-r, kept everything (11 vts files-loads of extras) works perfectly, and no diff in picture quality.

just be careful if your'e using more than one audio stream make sure your max bit rate in cce reflects this (keep under 9000)

let me know if not clear
