Interesting dilemma. I have an LG DR787T DVD recorder. I cannot rip the DVD+RW's that I record on. I can rip DVD+R's after finalizing them with no problem. I would PREFER to be able record on, then rip +RW's directly into my computer so that I can edit the DVDs to my liking, then output the resultant [edited] DVD. I have tried every dvd ripping program known to man. Even tried the "ripit4me" which is the only program that WAS able to rip the dvd+rw's (with the co-use of dvd decrypter), but the resultant DVD kept giving error messages whenever I tried to load them into any dvd editing program, like adobe premiere elements, TMPGENC Authoring works, etc. None of those programs will accept the ripped dvd files. They just give errors upon loading. Anybody know of a very stubborn program that will rip out an EDITABLE dvd from the LG recorder +RW's? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I only have one computer with all my DVD editing / ripping / burning / authoring software. That would be my desktop. I have a DVD reader and writer in my desktop and tried them both. Same problem from both. Tried ISO buster and cd roller. Neither worked.

+R, -R, -RW need to be finalized to be read by the PC drive
+RW do not (http://www.dvdplusrw.org/Article.asp?mid=0&sid=1&aid=1)
On the Philips recorders I have, the finalize option is always grayed out and non selectable when I am using +RW. In cases where I haven't been able to read the disc on the PC, it was due to bad discs.
I have also done recordings discs where the recorder will throw up "disc error" warnings during the recording when it encounters problems, but will continue recording the program until manually stopped if some parts of the disc are bad and some are good.
Can you play the ripped files with VLC or MPC? This should tell you if the files coming out of the ripper are corrupt.
There is no CSS on recorded discs, so you don't need a ripper, copy/paste should work. Can you copy the vobs from the disc to the hard drive?
Some PC drives may not like certain brands of disc, so you might also try a different brand of +RW disc -
Discs might be bad.
DVD-RW must always be finalized.
DVD+RW may not require finalizing, but also might. Depends on recorder.

I checked it before posting thinking it would be gone by now, but it's still there.

I record on DVD+RW using my Lite-on 5115. Then I rip the resulting recording (movie only, Lite-on adds it own menu) to PC using Ripit4me, and use DVDStyler to add a better menu, and burn with Imgburn.
No problems.
If I record TV shows or short b-movies (via VCR), use DVDStrink to put 2 or more recordings per SL Disc and 4 or more recordings per DL discs.
I have used DVD-RW's and while Ripit4me and even DVDFab require the -RW to be finalized, DVDStrink will rip the un-finalized disc.
