I have a DVR-104 and have successfully backed up my collection of DVDs, They play fine on both of my standalone DVD players and my PC, but I’ve not got one to play at all on my PS2. I've since tried to backup some of my PS2 games and none of these will work either, (and yes it is chipped but I'm not sure which chip was used). At first I thought it was because I was using cheap discs to copy to so I bought a few TDK discs only to see that they wouldn't work either.
Today I bought a couple of Verbatim DVD-R discs and a Verbatim DVD-RW disc. I copied a movie to the Verbatim DVD-RW disc which worked in the players but again not the PS2. If I get a backed up movie to play on the PS2 will this media then work for games also. I don't want to ruin the Verbatim DVD-RW discs.
I've tried DVD Decrypter (read/write), Record Now Max (global image), and Nero (1:1)
I'm going out of my head here...is it the discs... have I been given a dodgy chip? (It plays games backed up on to a CD)... am I using the wrong software...I don't know.
I would really appreciate any help at all, no matter how small,
Thanks in advance,
Ben Ryan (Ireland)

it could be that your chip does not support dvdr. only the newer version chips do.

I highly doubt that is the case, find out which version of ps2 do u have.. the earlier Ps2, may have trouble reading DVD-rs.. versions 5 and up work well... for the model numbers.. atleast.. DVD+Rs are bascically V7.. hope that helps. also first find out how to get DVD-R movies to play on the ps2... if that works then that media would work on ur ps2... and depending on the chip, if u have to do swap tricks, then u can kiss the DVD-R ps2 back ups good bye, because that doesnt work at all..... very very slow loading.. its not even worth the effort.

I think you're problem is that Ps2 doesn't read /rw discs. I know that my V5 won't play /rw movies, but I have backed up movies and games on dvd+r that play fine on my Ps2. I think the dvdrw discs just can't be read by the laser. try burning on those verbatim dvd-r instead of rw, it will probably work (i'm can't guarentee that of course).

thanks lads, I've burnt The Getaway to a Verbatim DVD-r. It didn't work the first two times but loaded perfectly every second time after that. Thanks again for all your help.
