  1. if anyone here has had experience using VCD Builder 1.1, maybe you can help me out here.

i'm attempting to make an svcd with a menu, and a 30 minute mpeg2, that i want to divide into about 5 chapter points.

however in vcd builder when i click on the video track and go to "Edit Sequence" to make the chapters, it says the video is only 10 minutes and 59 seconds long below the preview image. It also won't let me drag any chapter points out on the timeline beyond 11 minutes (cos the timeline just ends there).

when i burn the project to svcd though, the full 30 minutes play. what gives? is this some bug? or am i doing somethiing wrong?

any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

  2. Well, I know your situation, but it isn't a bug, per se.

What is actually happening is that VCD Builder expects pure VCD or SVCD video. If you use non-standard bitrates for MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 when encoding, you will see these issues. I am not much for chapters, although firing off a calm e-mail to the author asking if he/she is working on this potential issue (I make purely CVDs, so it is by far not standard SVCD) shouldn't hurt.
Slaughtering the competition with amatuer-quality VCD authoring abilities... fear my non-l33t skillz.

  3. aha! that makes sense, as i encoded the mpeg2 at 3250kb/s (instead of the standard 2500). i did email the author of the program about it as well, so hopefully that will be worked out in time.

but in the meantime, how would i go about making chapter points for a non-standard bitrate svcd? are there any other programs that'll allow me to do this besides having to dig into the xml?

    thanks!
