  1. I just bought a DVD-R Burner. I just wanted to make sure that laptop DVD Drives support DVD-R.

My Laptop is a Toshiba Laptop and my DVD Drive is a Matshita SR - 8176.

Any ideas? Also is there a site that tests compatibility of DVD Drives?

    Thanks.

  2. Many existing DVD ROM drives (laptop or otherwise) do NOT support DVD-r, though many newere ones do. In my experience its largley a matter of luck and age of device as to wether support is present or not with more luck required the older the drive!

  3. I know that my drive does support DVD+R. Does this mean that it should support DVD-R, since DVD-R is supposedly more compatible?

    Thanks.

DVD+R and DVD-R (not RW) have similar degrees of reflectivity - barring hardware prohibitions, any drive new enough to read the one can typically read the other.

DVD/RW are typically somewhat less readable in legacy drives.
