    I have just purchased the stand alone Alba dvd114, itplays all my media vcd etc and is very good. But I would like to be able to record my vcds to vhs, but no matter how I link them together the picture on tape is scrambled, can any one help please.

    That's macrovision and there are only two ways that I know to get around it:

    1) Mod/hack/etc. your DVD player to turn off macrovision
    2) Play on a PC w/ a video out card

    However, I didn't think that VCDs were macrovision protected?!?

    use an rf modulator. on my dvd player, it gets rid of the macrovision.
