  1. hi
i have been researching numerous Nero faqs and lituerature by many people including people from this website as well. i have noticed many of these guides contradict each other on the proper settings to burn a VCD using nero. For example, some people claim that in order to burn a VCD that can be used by most standard DVD players, you need to click the "Create Starndard Complaint CD" check box off. Others say leave it on. Some people also say leave the "Use CD-i application" checkbox off, others say leave them both on.
Its confusing but who is telling the truth. what is the proper settings?

Also for overburning how much can you fit on an 80 min cd? whats the most amount of time you can overburn before you reach problems??

    thanks[/quote]

    Okay, hope i can help.

When creating a VCD w/ nero I always turn off the "create standard compliant cd" box. If the box is checked nero will pop up a message after checking your mpeg if the bitrate is not the proper 1150 for a VCD. So if your making a XVCD you want the box unchecked, I always uncheck it b/c I know that the mpeg is okay b/c i make them. As far as the cd-i application, im not sure - but mine is always checked.

Overburning? - well it depends on your drive & the media. I have been able to burn fuji cd's up to 82 minutes but sony discs only let me go 20 or 30 seconds extra. So its a combination of factors whether the overburn will be successful.
