I don't think it would work in the UK because of Region Protection.

  4. (I might be wrong but....) The region is set by Window$, which allows you to switch regions half a dozen times, or so, before being fixed to particular region. (Right click, Drive/Properties). After the region is fixed, you can, with certain drives, reset the region settings by downloading new firmware for the drive (*VERY RISKY could destroy your drive *).

  5. there is dvd region killer which doesn't require you to get any new firmware.

  6. Careful - you'll have to install a US burner with a "wrench" from the "trunk" of your car. "Spanners" from "boots" will not work as we "Yanks" put boots on our feet and Jellies on our bread
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'

    Yes it would work

DVD"s you burn have no region protection, it may be possible to put it, i'm not sure, and only Scenarist can do it i think.

You'll need to change the region, but your allowed 4 changes.
