  1. I have gone through all of the guides in the DVD section of this site and others, and have successfully made DVD-Rs using most of the methods, with several different programs. My finished DVD-Rs play great in my computer, but none will work in my standalone DVD players. I know that my standalones can play DVD-Rs because I made a 1:1 copy of a demo DVD that was less than 4.7 GB, and that copy plays just fine. (DVD players Mintek 2110 and KLH -7000). The files I have on my completed DVD-Rs look right. They are the two folders, AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS. In the video folder I have:
    VTS_01_0.BUP, IFO, and VOB files
VTS_01_1.VOB (and the other VOBs, up to VTS_01_4.VOB)
    VIDEO_TS.BUP, IFO, and VOB files
I'd appreciate any suggestions or ideas to try. Thanks.

I use Nero v5.5.10.0 in combination with my Pioneer DVRA05 writer.

    - Open Nero and select DVD-ROM(UDF/ISO)
    - Select No Multisession
    - Select ISO Level 1
    - Select ISO9660 and NO Joliet
    - Do NOT relax any ISO restrictions
    - Use UDF 1.02 Physical Partition (Do not force DVD Video compatability unless you ONLY want to use the disc on an X-Box)
    - Set the volume label (NEXTGEN in my case)
    - Select burn
    - Manually create an AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS directory
    - Drag the dvd files in the VIDEO_TS directory
    - Burn

The dvd files have been ripped with DvD Decrypter...

    Could be a couple things..

Could be the brand of media your using.. Some DVD players dont like certain brands..

Could be the way you burn the disk... I burn the same way as Remco described.

Also, i had the same issue on the last movie i was doing... So if you use IFOedit to create your IFO, VOB, and BUP files, make sure you hit "Get VTS Sectors". I didnt do this, and wasted 2 DVD-Rs.. Did it, and suddenly everything worked..

  4. I don't think it's the media. I used the same DVD-RW to burn a 1:1 copy of a demo DVD, and it played fine. I'll try Remco's method - there are a couple of boxes in Nero that I had checked that I'll uncheck. Thanks.

I used Nero (udf/iso) mode. The dvdrs burnt wouldnt play on mine but woould on family/friends. Tried using the (udf) mode and it would work on mine but not family/firends. just tried Primodvd and the newly burned disc works on all players.

I tried several methods to backup my DVD's and my experience I find the media and the settop player combination is the problem.

My DVD player is pieoner 515 which is old and not compatible with DVD-R (you can check the procuders web site for DVD-R compatiable players)

The after 5-6 different media I am using DIAMOND DVD-R which now works 100% well with my DVD settop.

It is important to find the right media for your player, the rest is fine I think.

if you try Remco's method don't forget DON'T use "DVD Video".

In the latest version of Nero 5.5.10.0 it is known to have problems with some home DVD player.

A DVD-R burned with 5.5.10 only plays in my PS2 but using 5.5.9.17 and it works in my Norcent DP300 also !!!

    hope this help !

I have had simmilar problems, I have 2 DVD Players & a PS2 and I could burn disks and get them to work on either one, but not all 3.

Nero 5.5.9.14, DVD Video would work on my Playstation 2 and Cyberhome AD 512.

UDF 1.02 (in nero), would work on my Cyberhome AD 528.

I now use Prassi PrimoDVD, if you have this, follow these instructions.

    [/i]

    Launch prassi

    Click DATA disk icon

    select your recorder

    click - goto full application

Now using windows explorer find the directory you saved
the vob files etc. to and drag and drop the folder into the prassi program

You will now get a line in the centre column

    with \video_ts\*.*

right click on this and 'modify folders on disc' option
(this is important the 528 can only recognise upper case letters for DVD-R's)

    so it says \VIDEO_TS\*.*

    Click ok

Right click again and select recording options

Both CD and DVD options should read for file system type

    UDF with Joliet - upto 106 in length,any char,plus joliet,plus 8+3 tree (bridge)

for cd recording type should read Track at once (TAO) closed.

leave everything else as it is.

click ok to take you back to main/full application

In volume label add a volume label i stuck in here Big_mommas_house

In Multisession box scroll up until you see New Session and select this

    Insert your blank dvd-r disk

click the big red button near the top

    You are now rocking.

Program will check the integrity of the VIDEO_TS folder you are writting.
If it finds a problem it won't write and apparently gives an obscure message.[/i]

    Thanks for all the cheese

  9. I GOT IT!
I used Prassi PrimoDVD (after I installed the pxengine file so it would recognize my burner). Prassi was EASY to use, and the burned disk plays on both of my players. Thank you! YEAH!

P.S. I tried Remco's method, but my DVD players still didn't like the disks. I guess it's just a matter of finding the right software/burner/player mix.
