But the problem is I need it to support xvid/divx/avi files as wells as the regular CD, DVD, CD-R, SVCD, CD-RW, DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, DVD-ROM, DVD+R DL, DVD-R DL, Video CD, DVD-Audio

I have searched Cnet and found these:

    1 - Panasonic DMR-ES45V - DVD recorder / VCR combo List Price around $138.35
    http://reviews.cnet.com/dvd-vcr-combos/panasonic-dmr-es45v-dvd/4507-6505_7-31850677.html?tag=sub

    2 - Panasonic DMR-EZ37VK List Price around $269.00
    http://reviews.cnet.com/dvd-vcr-combos/panasonic-dmr-ez37vk/4507-6505_7-32331260.html?tag=nav

    3 - Panasonic DMR-ES35V - DVD recorder / VCR combo List Price around $138.35
    http://reviews.cnet.com/dvd-vcr-combos/panasonic-dmr-es35v-dvd/4507-6505_7-31884415.html?tag=nav

But I'm not to versed in the technical so the specs mean very little to me... If anyone can help translate I just want to be able to watch burned DVDs + and - that I burned AVI files on?

Or if you have any info on the RIGHT DVD/VHS combo to buy please let me know?

    Thanks

Aside from the typical disc type support, you need a player that supports Divx. Divx certified players are often best and there should be a list at divx.com.

I am amazed that you found 3 models that support DVD-Audio and DVD-RAM. Almost everything sold in the USA has dropped DVD-Audio support.

Look up your models under Lists -> DVD Players at the left side of the Video Help webpage and see what people who own it say. Look for reviews on Amazon.com. Pay particular attention to what people say about Divx playback.

The bigger question is whether you actually use all of those disc types, or if you are limiting your search just because you want a player that will play "everything".
