  1. I have got some SVCD's, firstly my dvd player doesn't play SVCD's, so I need to convert it to VCD to be able to play it, so what program is it possible to convert SVCD, to MPEG?

Secondly, I have viewed the SVCD's on a friends player, and the audio is extremely out of sync, like about 3-4 seconds out of sync. So how can I get the audio of the SVCD back in to sync.

Please can anybody out there who knows how to fix these problems, please let me know, as it is driving me mad trying to work it out.

  2. Firstly the audio problem, I use Virtual Dub to convert the audio speeds, Look round the forum or the web on how to do this. Secondly to convert your svcd to vcd is to use TMPGenc after stripping the audio so you know the audio is going to correct after you have burnt a vcd.

  3. I have just tried to convert in TMPGEnc, and the computer either freezes, or if it doesn't, where it says how long it has taken to encode, and time remaining etc, the time taken is counting up, while none of the others are moving. This includes the % completed doesn't move. I did notice, when you convert a standard vcd in TMPGEnc next to where the bar saying how many percent complete, it has as an example 123456/234567 in the way of KB or what ever it means. Well when trying to convert SVCD, to VCD, it says 1/1. So is there anything plugin or added extra, that I am needing for TMPGEnc, to be able to convert from SVCD to VCD? If there isn't, what setting could it be that I'm needing to change, because I'm opening up the only mpg file that is on the SVCD, putting that as both the Video and Audio source, and then after checking that the file name for the created file is correct, I press start, and this shows the time taken counter as moving, but nothing else.

If it sounds like I've done all things right, is there some other program apart from TMPGEnc that I can use for the converting of the movie.

PLEASE HELP ME OUT IF ANYBODY OUT THER CAN, AS IT IS STARTING TO DRIVE ME MAD!

  4. Hmmm well it seems to me like its right but ive never encoded a svcd to vcd. I know you can encode svcd to vcd using TMPGenc and all you basically have to do is set your format ie. vcd pal and load your Video, audio files tell it where to save your encoded file and away you go. I find that sometimes my time remaining goes up instead of down but it still takes me 8 hours to encode a movie to svcd. I dont see that you are doing things wrong and you shouldnt need no plug-ins for TMPGenc it should just get on with it, all i can suggest is leave it encoding overnight or when you are not using your computer and see what happens, Failing that download TMPGenc again and re-try.
