  1. okay, i kno this is a big file for a .avi, but its a high quality dvd rip. its 66 min. long, 712MB. and its not even mepg yet. so, what i was gonna do was jus drag 'n' drop the file in nero's VCD program, and it will automatically encode it to mpeg for me, im guessing when its mpeg, its about double the size of the .avi original. so, could i still fit it on one cd?

  2. Not sure where to begin.

712 MB is not big for an AVI, even a DivX AVI, which I assume it is. 40 GIG is not unusually large for an uncompressed AVI.

NERO is quite possibly the worst MPEG encoder which is sold commercially.

You either don't know the maximum capacity of a CD or aren't very good at math.

  3. If you are encoding to standard VCD, it will easily fit. VCD is approx 10 mb/min, so your 66 min file will be approx 660mb. Don't use nero to encode, use TMPGEnc.

  4. when i used TMPGEnc, it made the file be 1.42 gigabytes. and then i went to go burn that with nero, and obviously it said there was not enough space on the medium. what should i do?

  5. You obviously did not load the VCD template in TMPGEnc. You will have to do it.

  6. You probably made a svcd with average bitrate over 2000kb/s.Choose another template(vcd) and try again.Like Craig said,it will fit easily.

  7. I doubt you'll like the quality compared to the "high quality rip"...
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'
