newbie who is a dummy (me)

first let me say please forgive me if i post somethimg that has already been a topic.With that being said ,i'm a computer dummy.I went out and brought this Sonyvaio computer so i could get broadband and play my PS2and XBOX and also burn movies off the net.I have a pioner dvd burner so i thought that once i downloaded a movie i could just pop in a dvd-rw and just copy the movie.Well every time i did it and tried to play it back it would say that the dvd im playing has not been formated.Like i said i dont no nothing about computers so i have no ideal what that means.I meet this guy he tells me i need to turn my movies to vcds and to go to this site to learn. Well i dont really understand this either because i know nothing about computers.PLEASE help me and tell me exactly what i need to download or buy to make my movies.I have all these great movies on my computer and wish i could watch them on my 4 other dvd players. thanks

if you got a dvd drive then you don't have to download any files. just rip you dvd and load the files into dvd2avi and frameserve them to tmpgenc. from there you can use nero to burn them. its that easy.

Conquest10 thanks for your time let me just clarify somthine i have movies on my winmedia player how can i copy them if this sounds like a repeat question i told you i was a dummy
