I am ready to smash my head through the monitor.I reformatted and reinstalled windows as general maintenance, now I can't get capturing to work the way it was before.
Before, I could capture using virtualVCR and VirtualDub with no real problems. Playback was also not a problem.
Now, I have the following problems:
1. Audio on captures sounds like it was recorded in a tunnel. Echoic, and far away sounding.
2. CPU usage is very high. I get frame drops quite a bit using VirtualDub.
3. Captures using Huffy compression will not play back properly; they play back at about 0.3 fps (yes, 1 frame every three seconds!). Captures using no compression play back normally. This seems to be contrary to logic; playback with no compression is more data to be processed. If I encode to MPEG, elecard will play back normally (except for the audio, as noted above).
I have downloaded the latest drivers for both my video card and my sound card. I don't even know if the above three problems are related.
Can anyone think of what I am overlooking? As I said, it was working before I reformatted, so it can't be a hardware problem.
UPDATE: Yay, I have solved problem 1. Somehow the default recording device got set to the USB recorder. The sound being recorded was actually the sound from my speakers, as heard by the microphone on my webcam. How crazy is that?
