  1. Now maybe I'm being a complete idiot here, (OK, hopefully not, I'm hoping to chaulk it up to being really new with this whole thing...) but I have an AVI file that I received from a friend that has no sound. Or appears to have no sound.

Tried playing it in both WinAmp and the DiVX player, but to no avail. The picture is astouding looking, but there's no sound. (And yup, I checked the normal windows culprits.) Is it possible that I'm missing a CODEC or some such? Or is it possible that my friend is trying to yank my chain and give me an AVI with no sound?

    Thanks ahead of time...

Some AVI files have audio on only one channel. Try loading the video into Gold Wave and see if there is any audio in your file for sure.
    Hello.
