  1. I am trying to take VOBs stored on a DVD and rip them, edit them, and then rewrite them back out to a DVD.

I have been successful at ripping the VOBs to my HD (using SmartRipper), but I cannot figure out how to turn the VOB into an MPEG2 so In can edit it and then write the edited MPEG2 back out to a DVD+R using my DVD+R burner (Memorex DVD+R/RW burner).

Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks.

  2. Demux with TMPGenc into video and audio and mux into standard mpeg with mpeg tools section.

    Follow this link: http://www.vcdhelp.com/faq#demultiplex

  3. Maybe I am just stupid (probably the case anyway). I actually tried demuxing the VOB using TMPGEnc but could not figure out what type of file it was demuxing for the video or audio. When I save the video stream from the VOB, is it mpg, avi, or something else, because whatever I save it as, TMPGEnc cannot load the file back.

Also, there are three Private Streams checked with different offsets, which one would be the English audio and what type file would it demux into?

    Thanks in advance

  4. achobbs,

Use TMPGenc MPEG TOOLS. Do a "simple de-multiplex" on your VOB file. It will automatically put the extensions on the files as m2v (video) and mp2 (audio). Next use MPEG TOOLs to do a "simple multiplex" using the files you just created with the demux. Set type to "MPEG-2 Program (VBR)". Select the video file you created with demux (note you will not see the extensions (.m2v) in the selection box). TMPGenc will automatically put the .mpg extension on the output. Select "run". Thats it.

I am assuming the the VOBs do not have any encryption on them.

  5. When I load the file into Simple-Demux and click run it gives me "Illegal MPEG Video Stream". Might it possibly be encrypted. I ripped it off of a Movie DVD with SmartRipper and basically want to edit it so that the kids can watch it.

Would DVD Decrypter be a better tool to rip with to give me a useable VOB in TMPGEnc?

    Thanks,

    Ashton

  6. achobbs,

Don't know about Movie DVDs. I have only used TMPGenc demux for my home video DVD VOBs. Maybe someone else can help here.
    What you say guys/gals?
