  1. I'm copying DVD using

    -> Smartripper - DVDx 2.0 - AVISynth server 0.59 - TMPGEnc 2.xx

What I found out was that if I was going to make a 1-VCD movie (so I play with bitrates to do that) MPG-1 (non-standard) videostream is not working anymore !!

in version 2.53 a movie with bitrate about CBR 800 is about 1,2 Mb in size.
in version 2.59 a movie with bitrate about CBR 800 is about 1,7 Mb in size !!

All settings are the same, except for some environmental options that do not excist anymore in 2.59.

    Why...can anybody explain that ?

MPG-1 size and MPG-1 VCD-1 complaint (non-standard) should have the same size is it not ? Know it seems that the last option in v2.59 stays on 1150 kbps. Why the change with the version ? I can't use V2.59 anymore...

  3. Thanx for replying..

I will give VBR with MPG-1 a try...but this is just to stupid to be true..

btw..I've also used templates from www. KVCD.net and they gave same results (playing with CQ and VBV buffersize to influence total size).

  4. I have been noticing the same thing, or at least something similar - I have an 80:42 minute movie that I am trying to get on 1 CD...I am using the following settings:

    Source video: 16:9NTSC 704x480 29.97fps
    Resulting Video: 4:3NTSC 352x240 23.976fps
    Constant Bitrate: 1050
    VBV Buffer size: 40
Inverse telecine (to convert to 23.976)
    44100KHz, 224 Kbps Audio

then I began encoding...it came out to 805 MB - so I tried to lower the bitrate to 950 - same size...so i lowered it 500 just to see what was up...still came out to 805 MB - Why wont it change?

According to the wizard, using a Bitrate setting of 1150 produces the 805 MB. So I lowered it to 1050 and it reports that it SHOULD kame a file that is 730 MB (or close to that) but I always wind up with an 805 MB file....how can I change this?

    Please help,
    Thanks

  5. It has been an often reported problem with 2.59. Appears to be a muxing bug...

I would suggest that you use 2.58 or an older version for now.
